The military has decided to discontinue the tradition of prayer during the lineup, reports the Vårt Land newspaper.

“We believe this is a very good decision and fully in line with our recommendations. I mean, ”Nils Therje Runde, deputy commander of the Army’s Faith and Philosophy Corps, told the newspaper.

According to documents obtained by Vårt Land, the army has sent formal orders to implement the changes.

The change comes ten months after Her Majesty’s Royal Guard Military Commander Stian Husby noted the formal separation of the State and the Church of Norway in 2016.

However, he said the ties were so close that he found it difficult to characterize the army as anything other than a Christian organization.
