Approximately 200,000 Norwegians participated in the Corona study under the auspices of Oslo University Hospital. Unfortunately, there is no money to analyze the data collected.

According to the newspaper VG, this is one of the largest studies in the world on corona pandemics.

“The next variant of SARS-CoV-2 or a new pandemic can provide knowledge about how the virus spreads rapidly, so we can coordinate our response, but we don’t have the money to do so.” Said project manager Arne Søraas.

He noted that neither the Research Council nor the University of Oslo Hospital (OUS) had the opportunity to fund further use of the information collected. Søraas hopes that the revised national budget will secure 3 million Norwegian kroner for this.

Oslo University Hospital did not want to comment on VG about this incident.
