King Harald will join the WC by sailing with the crew of the boat “Shira”.
He will be attending the WC in Geneva, Switzerland at the end of the month, the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) reports.
In the list of participants, King Haral is listed as a skipper of “Shira” with six more crew members.
“The King will be competing in the World Championships later this summer,” said Sven Gjeruldsen, Assistant Communication Manager at the Royal House.
The World Sailing Championship will be held from July 25th to 30th.
In good shape
The king will compete five months after turning 85. He had leg surgery last January.
“The king is fine,” Gjeruldsen added.
King Harald has won five World Cup medals in sailing. One is a gold medal, two are silver medals, and two are bronze medals. He also has gold for the European Championship.
The 85-year-old king represented Norway three times during the Olympic Games (1964, 1968, 1972).
