The Norwegian Police Security Service (PST) raises the level of the Norwegian terrorist threat. It sees the shootings in Oslo as an extreme act of terrorism by Muslims.
The attacker arrested is a 42-year-old Norwegian citizen from Iran.
“The PST has known about the perpetrators since 2015 and was concerned that he was radicalized and became part of Norway’s highly Muslim contact network,” said Roger, PST chief. Berg said Saturday afternoon.
PST conducted an interview with 42-year-old Zaniar Matapour in May.
“In these conversations, it was not believed that the perpetrators intended to commit violence, but the PST recognizes that the perpetrators have mental health-related challenges.
Two people were killed, 10 were seriously injured, and 11 were slightly injured after a mass shooting in central Oslo.
A 42-year-old boy has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and acts of terrorism.
