Defending champions Al Sayyya will face football giants Al Sadd and an in-form Al Wakrah in the group stage as the Ooredu Cup draw was held at Al Bidda Tower yesterday.
Ahmed Abdullah Al Sayed, Head of Football Operations for the Qatar Stars League (QSL), was also present at the draw, with Al Ahly and Qatar SC forming Group A alongside Al Sayyya, Al Sadd, Al Wakrah and Umm Salal.
Group B includes Al Duhail, Al Arabi, Al Gharafa, Al Rayyan, Al Shamal and Al Marhya.
Nasser Al Khaiat (Business Campaign Manager) and Hassan Al Ali (Creative Studio Manager), representatives of Ooredoo, the title sponsor of the tournament, were also present.
QSL said the tournament schedule will be announced later.
In March, Al Sayyya retained the Ooredu Cup title with a comfortable 5-4 victory over Al Wakrah after extra time at Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.
The 2022-2023 edition will also return Al Sadd and Al Duhail, who skipped the previous edition due to their involvement with the Qatar national team.
