Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (AP) discussed the gas price cap with the EU in an interview with the Financial Times.

A gas price cap is one of the measures that have been discussed in the EU to overcome the large increase in electricity prices.

In the electricity market, the most expensive form of production determines the price of the entire market. Well, it’s gas. Norway is the EU’s largest gas supplier after Russia cuts supplies.

“I am fully aware that there is an exhaustive debate going on in Europe about how energy markets work,” Store told the Financial Times.

“Norway will not close the door to such discussions,” Støre added.

But the store has warned the EU not to introduce measures that threaten its supply security before an uncertain winter arrives.

He said it was up to gas exporters to sign short-term and long-term contracts with European customers.
