The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to propose to the Plenary Session of the Central Committee that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, which is held every five years, be held in Beijing on October 16. Xinhua News Agency reported.
The decision was adopted at a meeting held on Tuesday by the Politburo, chaired by General Secretary Xi Jinping, according to most analysts.
The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China is “a very important congress convened at a critical time for the whole Party and the people to embark on a new journey to build a modern socialist state in all respects. and move forward toward the second centennial goal.”
The convention will assess the party’s work over the past five years and the key achievements of the party’s Central Committee, according to Xinhua News Agency.
The Congress will also review the international and domestic situation and “get a comprehensive grasp of the new requirements for the development of the party and the national cause.”
At the Party Congress, a new Party Central Committee and a new Party Central Committee for Discipline Inspection will be elected.
