BANGKOK (THE NATION) – A popular Thai YouTuber who calls himself a successful forex trader has fled the country for tricking thousands of investors out of 2 billion baht (SGD 77 million) It is reported.
Natamon Konchak, better known as Natty the YouTuber, has defrauded more than 6,000 victims, according to lawyer Faisal Ruangrit, who is campaigning to help scam victims.
Faisal said one of the victims entrusted her with about 18 million baht.
On August 24, the lawyer led about 30 people to file a complaint against Natamon with the Economic Crime Suppression Division.
He said the YouTuber used her popularity to lure victims with promises of high earnings in a short time.
Natthamon’s YouTube account, titled Nutty’s Diary, has more than 800,000 followers, but her last clip was posted about five months ago.
She encouraged people to deposit money into her accounts, promising returns of 25% for 3-month contracts, 30% for 6-month contracts, and 35% for 12-month contracts. She promised to return it every month.
But in April, customers started complaining that they hadn’t received their payments as promised.
In an Instagram post on May 25, Natamon said he made a mistake in the deal and lost the full amount, but promised to repay investors.
On June 24, she announced that she was being sued in two lawsuits and would be unable to pay back other investors if she was jailed.
On Sunday (August 28), a drama addict on a popular Facebook page posted that Natamon had fled the country. One of her alleged victims, Nok, added that she offered a reward of 1 million baht to anyone who could provide information that led to her arrest.
The page said it had received information that Mr Natamon had fled to Malaysia.
