President Sauli Niinistö will visit Madrid to attend the NATO Summit, which will be held from June 28th to 30th.
President Niinistö will attend a meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of Head of State and Government Leaders on Wednesday afternoon, June 29th. In addition to NATO member countries, the conference will be attended by NATO Enhanced Opportunities Partners Finland. Sweden and Georgia, Asia Pacific partners and EU. That same night, President Niinistö will also attend an informal transatlantic dinner for heads of state and government.
In addition, President Sauli Niinistö’s program in Madrid will include a dinner hosted by King Felipe VI of Spain on Tuesday, June 28, and several bilateral meetings.
Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto (Greens) will also attend the summit as part of the Finnish delegation led by President Niinistö.
Previously, President Niinistö attended the NATO Summit in February 2022 as a video conference. He also participated in the NATO Summit in Brussels in 2018, Warsaw in 2016, Wales in 2014 and Chicago in 2012.
