A bus and motorcycle collided in the West End tonight, and a male motorcycle rider was taken to hospital.
A police spokesperson said: “Police and other first responders were dispatched following a call that two vehicles had collided at the junction of Middle and South Roads in Southampton at approximately 6.20pm. rice field. [Barnes Corner]The collision involved a public bus and a motorcycle.
“Initial investigations suggest that the bus was exiting a junction on South Road heading east on Middle Road and the motorcycle was also heading east on Middle Road when the collision occurred.
“The man riding the motorcycle is believed to have suffered a head injury and was taken to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment. The male bus driver was uninjured.
“There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the collision.
“Traffic is diverted at the Middle Road/South Road junction and at the Church Road/Middle Road junction.
“Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the clash to contact Police Constable Melissa Butler by emailing mbutler@bps.bm or calling 211.
“This is the second serious collision that emergency services have had to respond to and has occurred within six hours. We are urging members of the public to slow down.” .”
