Shamrock Rovers lost 4-0 to Hungarian side Ferencvaros in the first leg of the Europa League play-offs in Budapest.

The home side scored in the 13th minute through Carlos Ouschi’s goal, and Adama Marda Traoré added a second in the 34th minute.

Shortly after the break, Traoré returned for his second match of the night, beating Alain Mannus again just three minutes into the second half.

To cap off a disappointing night for the Dubliners, after being on the pitch for just over ten minutes, substitute Elder Civic scored the final goal of the night in the final minute of stoppage time.

Game 2 of the playoffs will take place next Thursday, August 25, at Tallaght Stadium with kick-off at 8pm.
