Brazilian federal police said Friday that they had officially identified the body of British journalist Dom Phillips, who was found buried in the Amazon after being lost on a book research trip.
Phillips, who disappeared on June 5, along with indigenous expert guide Bruno Pereira, was identified by forensic analysis, officials said in a statement.
It said it was still working on the “complete identification” of the excavated relics that may include those of Pereira.
Veteran correspondents Phillips, 57, and Pereira, 41, have been lost in remote areas of the rainforest due to illegal mining, fishing, logging, and drug trafficking.
