Race organizers in Newport Bermuda have released very sad news that sailors died after “outboarding early this afternoon in a strong wind of about 325 miles from Bermuda.”
A spokeswoman said:
“The 42-foot sloop yacht Morgan crew reports that New Providence, New Jersey captain Colin Golder was unable to survive early this afternoon in a strong wind about 325 miles from Bermuda. Did.
“After a long effort, Mr. Golder’s body was recovered by the ship’s crew and the ship returned to the mainland. Relatives were notified.
“The Bermuda Race Organizing Committee, the American Cruising Club and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club would like to extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Golder’s family and crew. More details will be announced as they become available. . “
