Former West Ham forward Sebastien Haller thanked his applicants after being diagnosed with testicular cancer.

Haller’s current club, Borussia Dortmund, revealed that the 28-year-old had a medical examination on Monday after complaining that he was feeling sick after training.

Haller said on Twitter: “Thank you for all the messages of support and affection since yesterday’s announcement. My family and I thank you. I now focus on my recovery to return stronger.”

A testicular tumor was discovered during Haller’s examination and will be further examined in a specialized medical facility in the coming days.

Dortmund announced Haller’s diagnosis on Twitter, and club sports director Sebastian Kehl said:

“The whole BVB family wants Sebastian to be fully recovered as soon as possible and to be able to hug him again soon.

“We will do our best to ensure that he receives the best possible treatment.”

Haller’s teammate Jude Bellingham, a midfielder in Dortmund, England, tweeted his support for Côte d’Ivoire.

Bellingham said:

Haller joined Dortmund from Ajax earlier this month and signed a four-year contract after playing 36 games and scoring 32 goals in all tournaments of the Dutch club last season.

He spent a year and a half in West Ham, playing more than 50 times, and then in January 2021 Hammers sold him to Ajax for £ 20.25m.
