The committee convened in July 2021 to prepare the report in consultation with over 300 people with disabilities, their families, carers and experts in the disability sector.
Minister of Social and Family Development Masagos Zulquifli, who received the report on behalf of the government, said all 29 recommendations of the report had been accepted.
These proposals cover areas such as special education, employment, caregiver support, inclusive communications, and health care.
In a statement Wednesday, Masagos said: We are working to make this happen. ”
Among the report’s recommendations is increasing access to disability assistance services within town and community groups.
The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) will pilot Enabling Service Hubs (Centers) that will focus on people with disabilities who live nearby, need support and are out of their daily activities.
They provide coaching in areas such as daily life skills, social-emotional learning, physical activity, and the arts, host social inclusion activities with the larger community, and provide temporary respite care.
