Singapore: The Ministry of Health (MOH) and the COVID-19 Vaccination Expert Committee are currently studying the efficacy and safety of Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines in infants.
This study considers the use of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine in children aged 6 months to 5 years and the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in children aged 6 months to 4 years.
“We are working with each vaccine manufacturer to obtain relevant information to facilitate the risk-benefit assessment of the use of these vaccines in this age group,” responding to a media question on Monday. On (June 20th) MOH said.
On Saturday, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended the COVID-19 vaccine for 6-month-old children, allowing them to begin nationwide rollout next week. The CDC move took place after a panel of advisors voted to recommend the COVID-19 vaccine to their children.
On Friday, the US Food and Drug Administration approved an injection of Moderna for children aged 6 months to 5 years and a Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children aged 6 months to 4 years. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has already been approved in the United States for children over the age of five.
The Ministry of Health began vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 on December 27, last year.
In January’s latest information, the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) said no serious adverse effects were reported to people in that age group who received jabs as of the end of December.
All individuals, regardless of age targeted for COVID-19 vaccination, can receive a primary vaccination series and booster immunization before 7 pm daily.
According to the MOH website, no advance reservation is required.
Children aged 5 to 11 can drop in at a pediatric vaccination center with their parents or guardians for vaccination. People aged 12 to 17 can visit the Vaccine Center, which offers Pfizer BioNTech vaccines.
As of Sunday, 92% of the total population has completed the complete COVID-19 vaccination program. About 77% have received booster shots.
