The day after Billie Eilish became the youngest solo artist in history, Sir Paul McCartney will be the oldest solo headliner at the Glastonbury Festival.

The former Beatles headline show on Saturday will take place just a week after he celebrates his 80th birthday and more than 60 years of music production.

Prior to the history-making set on the Pyramid Stage, Sir Paul gave a surprise preview performance at an intimate venue in Fromm, Somerset, where he played some of his most famous solo material.

Among the choices were the hits “Maybe I’m surprised” and “Band on the Run,” alongside some of the Beatles’ most beloved songs, such as Hey Jude and Blackbird.

For the past few months, Sir Paul has been playing in the United States for his Gottback tour, and Jon Bon Jovi is attending his show in New Jersey.

The singer previously stated that his tour and Glastonbury’s performance would be filled with hits from his time at The Beatles and the subsequent group Wings, as well as some of his most popular solo material.

Sir Paul’s performance is expected to attract a particularly large audience and could rival the performances of the Rolling Stones in 2013 and Adele in 2016.

Stones will perform to tens of thousands of fans at the British Summertime Festival in Hyde Park, London on Saturday.

On the Pyramid Stage, he will showcase his talents in front of Sir Paul, including Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Bird, Heim, AJ Tracey, Easy Life, Joy Crookes, and Rare Amazon Daflick.

In addition, musical stars will appear on multiple stages of the festival, with American pop star Olivia Rodrigo and rapper Megan Thee Stallion performing on other stages.

Mercury-winning Celeste will play the Westholtz stage, Hoosiers will lead the Avalon stage, and Jessie Ware will conclude the park stage.

Billie Eilish closed the first day of his performance at Glastonbury with an inspiring headline performance on the Pyramid Stage on Friday.

Her appearance was a milestone at the festival when she became the youngest solo headliner in history at Glastonbury.

During her set, she opposed the US Supreme Court’s ruling on Friday and overturned the groundbreaking 1973 Roe v. Wade case, which legalized abortion nationwide.

When she introduced her song Your Power, sitting with her brother and co-author FINNEAS, she said: A way to always remember the concept of power and how to avoid it.

“And today is a really, really dark day for American women. I just can’t stand thinking about it anymore at this moment.”

Throughout the show, she treated her fan-loving audience with a selection of hits from two number one albums, including Bury A Friend, When The Party’s Over, NDA, and MyStrange Addiction.

She performed typical energetic performances, running and dancing across the stage, dressed in black and white graphic outfits, and buns with black striped arm warmers and hair.

Near the end of the set, she thanked the festival and fans for welcoming her, and admitted that she felt “very unfit” on this occasion.

She added: “I am very honored to be here with you, the wonderful artists, and the history of this festival.”

Before her, Sam Fender went to the pyramid stage and played a selection of his popular tracks, including Seventeen Going Under and Will We Talk. And to a crowd of excited fans waving spices and flags and singing together.
