Starting today, the teachers’ strike will escalate further, with at least two high schools severely affected.
The teachers’ strike has been going on since June 8, with about 3,500 teachers on strike. The latest increase includes her 300 teachers in the Association of Educational Societies. Two of her other unions, the National Schools Association and the Lecturers Association, are on strike.
Balm has so far been unaffected by the strike, but 165 teachers are currently on strike in several primary schools and three high schools in the municipality. At his Bekkestua secondary school, which has 450 students, he works only three of the 46 teachers, Budstikka newspaper reported.
Principal Morten Rondan said social workers, librarians and arts and crafts teachers will remain on duty.
“It goes without saying that a small number of students will be offered a very limited offer,” he told the newspaper.
