Macau’s Covid-19 cases rose to a total of eight since last Wednesday after authorities confirmed late last night that another local resident had the coronavirus.
The latest case is a 34-year-old woman who was found infected while in isolation in Block 1 of Edificio Rai Va San Chung, Areia Preta district. The residence had already been locked down yesterday morning after the woman died. A casino dealer and her two sons contracted her Covid-19.
She had already been admitted to the Coloane Public Health Clinical Center for treatment.
A cluster of three infections yesterday morning prompted the government to lock down MGM Cotai and require all local residents to undergo rapid antigen testing daily until November 1st.
A three-day emergency nucleic acid testing campaign was also conducted for a wider population.
