DUBAI, 6 September 2022 (WAM) — Under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, Dubai today signed the Declaration of Principles for Global Excellence hosted the Council. Dubai is now the first city in the Middle East to host a Global Excellence Council meeting.
With 12 founding members on five continents, the Global Excellence Council aims to define and promote a culture of excellence to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of organizations around the world. The signing is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Emir of Dubai, to establish a culture of excellence in the government. This reflects His Highness Sheikh Hamdan’s mandate to provide an organized institutional framework for the development of governments around the world.
The signing of the declaration was attended by Abdullah Mohammed Al Basti, Executive Director of Dubai Executive Council and President of Dubai Government Excellence Programme. He was joined by founding members of the Global Excellence Council, representing the African Excellence Forum. Business Excellence Australia; Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, USA. Indian Industry Federation; Dubai Government Excellence Program; European Quality Management Foundation; Instituto para el Fomento à la Calidad Total, Mexico. Japan Quality Award; Malaysia Productivity Corporation; FUNDIBEQ, Iberian Peninsula, Latin America. and the National Qualidade Foundation of Brazil.
A first initiative of its kind, the Council will work with international partners to conduct joint events and activities in the areas of quality and performance excellence. It also highlights international best practices in managing quality and excellence accreditation, assesses the most effective management practices, integrates foundations and principles of excellence, and promotes the adoption of excellence models.
