Singapore: At least four taxi companies have stated that they will extend the temporary surcharge increase for travel from Changi Airport until the end of the year.

The additional charge for taxi trips from Changi Airport was raised by S $ 3 on May 19. This measure was originally scheduled to take effect until June 30th.

However, Strides Taxi announced in a Facebook post Thursday (June 23rd) that the temporary surcharge increase will be valid until December 31, 2022. ComfortDelGroTaxi did the same on Friday.

Prime Taxi also announced an extension in a Business Times notice on Friday, but Premier Taxi is displaying an extension notice on its website.

Once the hike takes place, the additional charge for a taxi trip from 5 pm to 11:59 pm daily is S $ 8, while the additional charge for the rest of the time is S $ 6.

Under normal circumstances, taxi trips from Changi Airport from 5 pm to midnight on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays will incur an additional S $ 5. Otherwise, the additional taxi trip is usually S $ 3.

In response to a CNA question, a Changi Airport Group spokesman said on Friday that an additional charge “improved taxi supply” at the airport.

According to the Land Transport Authority, taxi fares in Singapore are personally determined by the taxi company.

Fare changes must be submitted to the Public Transport Conference in advance and commuters must be notified of such changes at least 7 days before they are implemented.
