Tom Jones denied the collapse before the concert on Tuesday night, claiming that the cancellation shortly before was caused by a viral infection.
A Wales pop superstar issued a statement behind the scenes at Budapest’s MVM Dome after being reportedly ill ahead of the latest European date for a surround-by-time tour.
The 82-year-old said on Instagram that he developed an “unpleasant throat” when he arrived in the Hungarian capital and was diagnosed with viral laryngitis.
He told fans “very sorry” that the show was canceled at the last moment, but confirmed that the schedule was changed on Tuesday, August 16th.
Jones released his 41st studio album “Surrounded By Time” last year, making him the oldest man to top the UK album charts.
His statement states: “Hello everyone involved. I traveled from England to Budapest last night and woke up with an unpleasant throat this morning. A specialist visited me and diagnosed me with” viral laryngitis. “
“He urged me to postpone the show tonight and prescribe medicine and resting my throat. I didn’t” collapse “anytime, anywhere, it’s a pure rumor.
“I’m looking forward to continuing my wonderful summer tour, so I hope the inflammation subsides soon.
“Unfortunately, the show had to be canceled at the last minute, and I’m very sorry for that.
“But the show in Budapest has been rescheduled and will take place on August 16th. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
He approved the message with “TJ”.
His Surrounded By Time tour has visited cities such as Amsterdam, Denmark and Madrid, with nearly 20 more to perform this summer, including one of the few in the UK.
