Previous finalists on this year’s longlist include Zimbabwean author NoViolet Bulawayo for Glory, American author Karen Joy Fowler for Booth, and Briton Graeme Macrae Burnet for Case Study.
Elizabeth Strout of the United States, who was previously on the award long list, was recognized in her book “O William”!
This year’s long list was selected by a jury chaired by cultural historian, writer and broadcaster Neil MacGregor.
He states: “The list we chose includes stories, parables and parables, fantasies, mysteries, meditations, and thrillers.
“The task of reducing 169 to 13 was as fun as it was difficult.
“These are 13 books that are challenging, exciting, amazing, nutritious and recommended for fun reading nearby.”

Gaby Wood, Director of the Booker Prize Foundation, said:
“The result is a set of books whose authors draw you into their wit, sometimes serious but never gloomy, even when absorbing dramatic, painful, provocative subjects.
“It’s in this playfulness of shape and tone that this year’s fiction is at its best.”
The six finalists for the Booker Prize 2022 will be announced at a ceremony on September 6th at the Serpentine Pavilion in London.
The winner will be announced on October 17th at the Roundhouse for the first time since 2019 and will receive £ 50,000 (€ 60,000).
The 2021 Booker Prize fiction was awarded by Damon Galgut for The Promise.
