Singapore-Two toddlers were rescued from a marsiling-burning residential board flat on Wednesday night (22 June).

The Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post Thursday that it was warned that a fire broke out at Block 218 Marsiling Crescent around 10:40 pm.

The SCDF said that when the firefighters arrived, the fire was raging and the two-story unit was emitting thick black smoke.

“Firefighters at the Woodlands Fire Department wore a breathing device set and extinguished the fire with a water jet,” SCDF said in the post.

A fire involving the contents of the bedroom damaged the entire unit with heat and smoke.

Two police officers rescued two infants before the SCDF arrived. They were conscious in the living room.

The SCDF added that one of the civilians tried to force the affected unit’s door open to rescue the infant.

“The SCDF will reach out to him to praise him for his swift thoughts and swift actions to rescue the infant,” he said.

The infant was taken to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital by two ambulances.

As a precautionary measure, about 60 residents were also evacuated from nearby units.

SCDF is investigating the cause of the fire.

Block 218 is one of eight blocks in Marsiling Crescent and Marsiling Lane and will be acquired by HDB to expand the Woodlands Checkpoint. Authorities announced last month.
