Tens of thousands of farmers have landed on farms on the edge of the village of Gelderland in Stroe, protesting the government’s plan to close many farms to combat nutrient pollution.

The organization estimates that about 40,000 people are participating in the demonstration, and broadcaster NOS states that “tens of thousands” of people have appeared in the drone footage.

Thousands of farmers arrived at the location by tractor, causing turmoil on the road early in the day. Many people got on the freeway, even though tractors were banned and the organizers called for it not.

At Drakten’s A7, many farmers used slipways to pass police blockades and drive all lanes to stop traffic.

Police also closed the A1 near Apeldoorn in both directions to dissipate the long jam.

Farmers came from all over the country to protest, especially for fear of widespread closure of farmers near environmentally sensitive areas.

“The Netherlands is at war with the Peasant Republic,” Bart Kemp, leader of the peasant group Agractie, told the crowd. The peasant’s land and property are facing seizures and we have to fight “without weapons”, he said. And he He called on the farmers to continue the “fight” in their area.

“I’m angry with the plan, but I’m glad a lot of people are here to show us our thoughts,” one farmer told broadcaster NOS.

Two MPs from VVD and D66, who were planning to attend the rally at the invitation of the farmers, canceled their visit at the recommendation of the counter-terrorist unit NCTV.
