Jamaican-born poet and novelist Valerie Bloom won the 2022 CLiPPA for her collection “Stars with Framing Tales”.

The loom, 66, was awarded the CLPE Children’s Poetry Award (CLiPPA) by 2021 winner Michael Rosen at the Southbank Center in London.

The fiery-tailed star described by Ken Wilson Max is a diverse collection of poems covering family, friends, and animal topics in an empathetic and often humorous way.

Bloom incorporates Caribbean traditions into his poetry, implementing a variety of poetic forms in his collection, including riddles, reverse poetry, the use of Cinquain and Rondel.

Philip Gross, poet and chairman of CLiPPA, said:

“This is a poem that can go anywhere, from individuals to planets, surreal to scientific, and invites us all to see, laugh, listen to our feelings, and think. increase.

“In the meantime, we are handed the key to the writing technique for ourselves, almost unnoticed.”

The 2022 CLiPPA candidate list includes Being Me, a collection of poems dealing with worries and anxieties by Liz Brownley, Matt Goodfellow, and Laura Mucha, as well as a poetry book for very young children. Also included was the Caterpillar Cake by one Matt Goodfellow.
