Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the next web conference in Zandam via Augmented Reality on Thursday, “digital” that Ukraine can use to develop new technologies in return for financial and technical assistance. Announced the “Lending Lease” program.

The plan envisions technology companies developing new technologies in Ukraine “building new Ukraine together, free, brave and digital,” Zelensky said. “Ukraine is an opportunity for a global digital revolution, an opportunity for all tech companies, and an opportunity for all visionary people to show their values, skills, technology and ambitions.”

In his speech, Zelenskyy outlined how technology can change public life, from cloud information storage, online learning, healthcare to the use of artificial intelligence in the judiciary.


He also portrayed Ukraine’s vision as a fully digitized democracy. There, technology enables “complete stability of all state institutions and banking systems.”

The Digital Lend-Lease Program will be further discussed at the Ukraine Reconstruction Conference in Lugano, Switzerland, July 4-5. This concept dates back to World War II as the Lend-Lease method. This allowed the United States to lease or rent military hardware to its European allies.

Julia Petryk, a Ukrainian who is a TNW participant and engaged in technology, welcomed the speech.

“I was surprised that Ukraine is not higher [TNW] “Agenda,” she said. “So it was an unexpected and big surprise that Zelensky was on the main stage. It was great to see him as a major presenter and highlight.”


Ukrainian leaders have appeared at six technical conferences across Europe at the same time. Alongside TNW, the president’s speech was broadcast to Vivatech in Paris, the Founder’s Forum in London, Brilliant Mind in Stockholm, the AI ​​Summit in London, and Super Return Berlin.

“It may be unusual for a president or head of government to use holograms to talk to people, but this is not the only aspect of Star Wars we practice,” Zelensky said. “We also defeat the empire.”
